Featured Wedding: Margaret and Jordan

Congratulations to Margaret and Jordan!

They had such an adorable wedding reception !  Margaret had a very clear vision of the vintage-style theme she wanted.  When we met, she brought me pictures and collages of some of her ideas for her reception, and I fell in love with everything.  I'm kind of a vintage nut, so I was so excited to finally get to the reception to set up the cake and be able to see her vision in real life.....and it was even more adorable than I had anticipated.

Featured Wedding: Brooke and Ryan

Congratulations to Brooke and Ryan!  They were married this summer at the absolutely magical Log Haven restaurant up Mill Creek Canyon.  If you have never been there, you should go!  It is such a beautiful little place that is nestled in the trees with beautiful natural landscaping.  I wish I would have known about this place when I got married!

Brooke and Ryan brought me a photo of a cake design they loved, and I loved it too!  It was unique and gorgeous and had that little touch of whimsy to it.

Featured Wedding: Karina and Aaron

Congratulations to Karina and Aaron!  First off, I have to say how absolutely adorable they are!  They were such a happy and bubbly couple to work with.  They held their reception this summer at one of my favorite venues, Thanksgiving Point.  Karina's colors were several shades of pinks, and she wanted to incorporate them into her wedding cake.  She loved bows and flowers and brooches and all things pretty, and we worked together to come up with this amazing design, which truly is one of my favorite cake designs yet!

Thank You!

Now that the busy summer wedding season is starting to wind down, I have been able to sit back in amazement of my truly fantastic summer!  I have to start by gushing a little bit about the awesome brides and grooms I've had the pleasure of working with the past few months.

Featured Wedding: Cam and Cole

Congratulations to Cam and Cole!  They were married in beautiful Peoa, Utah.  Admittedly, I had never heard of Peoa before and it was my first time there when I got to deliver their wedding cake to the stunning setting they had their wedding ceremony and reception at, which was high on a beautiful hillside overlooking the amazing scenery.  It was gorgeous!  Can't wait to have a reason to drive up there again!

Their colors were black, white, and red for the cake, and Cam wanted to keep it simple and elegant.

Featured Wedding: Angelina and Chase

Congrats to Angelina and Chase!  They had such a fun reception theme, which was sweets and candy.  It was so adorable and had such a fun and happy feel to it.  For the wedding cake, Angelina wanted something fun to go along with the candy theme, so she wanted to incorporate lollipop heads into the cake.  I loved the idea and was very happy with how it turned out.  I made fondant lollipops and attached them to the cake with the fun wavy, rope design.  The cake was one of my most popular flavor combos of chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream.

Another great bridal show!

It was another awesome bridal show on Saturday at the Bridal Extravaganza!  I got to meet lots of new clients and am really looking forward to working with all of them!  I absolutely love bridal shows and love getting to meet and discuss wedding cake plans with new couples.  It's such a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Hopefully I got to meet you at the show!  I do get very busy while I'm there, so if I didnt' get a chance to talk to you, please feel free to call or e-mail me so we can set up an appointment.  I hope those of you who were able to attend got some great ideas from the amazing vendors they had there and were able to get a lot of your wedding planning done.  I'm looking forward to all the great clients I get to work with in the upcoming months.  Brian and Rachel from The Bridal Extravagnza do such a great job with these shows and I'm always impressed with how smoothly they make things work.  Thanks for another successful show!

French-Style Wedding Cakes

Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love anything with a French flair.  I love the eclectic styling of French decor, the colors, the patterns, and most of all the feeling it evokes.  So whenever I get a bride who has a French theme she'd like to incorporate into her wedding cake, I get really excited.  One of the things I love the most about French styling is that you can go so many directions with it, from black and white to rich colors like deep reds and blues and yellows.

The Bridal Extravaganza

Don't miss the fall's biggest and best bridal show.  It will be at South Towne Expo Center on Saturday, September 11, 2010.  Make sure to drop by my booth.  I'll have some great samples to try and always love talking to brides and grooms about their wedding plans.  The Bridal Extravaganza is such a great show.  Lots to see and do, so definitely mark your calendars.  See you there!

Featured Wedding: Briawna and Aaron

Congratulations to Briawna and Aaron!

They were married on August 29, 2010, at the beautiful Log Haven Restaurant up Mill Creek Canyon.  I adored their cake.  It's one of my favorite styles and shapes.  This cake is extra tall, with 3 of the 4 tiers at 6 inches tall, which makes such an impression.  It's also a lot narrower than most cake tier proportions, so we achieved this really tall, towering effect with it.  I love that Briawna wanted the small bow on the top tier.
