Featured Wedding Cake: Tara and Jonathan

Congratulations Tara and Jonathan!

Tara was such a fun bride to work with.  She is so sweet, bubbly, and easy to talk to.  I actually didn't get to meet Tara until the day of her wedding when I delivered her gorgeous wedding cake, and she looked absolutely stunning!  Tara called me a few months before her wedding to discuss what she wanted.  She fell in love with one of my favorite designs, the cake I call the "Antique Bow" cake.  It's a cake I designed from several inspirations, but mostly from a frame that I have one of my own wedding pictures in and have loved this frame for years.  So when I was thinking up some cake designs for some bridal show displays, I came up with that original design.  I get lots of requests for it, and I've done this cake either exactly like the original design or with some sort of variation several times.  I never get tired of this cake.  The original design was 3 tiers.  Tara wanted to add an additional tier for some added drama and height to the cake.  I loved the idea!  So we added a new design to the new tier.  We made it look like old antique wallpaper with some faded roses and aged effect.  The bow and roses are all made from fondant.  The rest of the cake is covered in a deep ivory fondant and then given various aged effects using special edible food color dusts.  The top tier is hand-painted to look like old love letters.  Tara and Jonathan only needed a 3-tier cake for serving, so we added the 4th tier in styrofoam to give it that extra height.  I absolutely loved how it turned out.  They held their reception at the lovely Woods On Ninth reception center in Salt Lake.  It's such a beautiful place!  The cake got a front-and-center placement right as you walked in the main doors.  It looked fantastic there.

I had such a great experience working with Tara on her cake and thank her and Jonathan for choosing me to be part of their wedding day!  Congratulations again and I wish them all the happiness in the world!
